You have pretty much the right concept about Malthus, but he didn't say that we need to keep the population in check. Malthus believed that the people who are poor and can't afford food should be left to starve to death and die. He felt this would correct the problem with the growth in population.

It'll be hard to manage that huge world population ; the first is - hard to power that bio-mass ( specially if they educated ) , the second - fresh water & energy source difficite , the third is - food ( rich illuminate wants that they grand-kids will enjoy of seafood and an other dellicatesen ) , look now the ocean is almost empty , the fourth - garbage and waste , we sink in it + pollution ....the only way is to slash world population :(((

@hmong7819When given education and contraception, most people decide for themselves to have less children. In fact, the best form of population control is to ensure that women are education and a part of the workforce.This is why we actually have a contracting population in much of the west, and many other countries are heading in the same direction as they get wealthier and live longerThis anglo/american empire is actually sending itself demographically extinct.
